SAN JOSE -- Foul play was not involved in the death of a man whose body was found inside an RV downtown earlier this week, according to an examination by the Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.

The man, described only as being in his late 70s or early 80s, was found dead early Monday morning near Fourth and Julian streets. Police believe he was living in the vehicle.

Coroner's officials declared the circumstances to be suspicious and San Jose police dispatched a CSI team to the site.

"Whenever the coroner discovers something they deem to be suspicious, as a matter of protocol we send the crime-scene unit," said Officer Albert Morales, spokesman for San Jose police. "But it didn't rise to the level to call homicide investigators."

The coroner's office said Wednesday morning that a cause of death could not be immediately released, and that the man's identity is being withheld while they track down his next of kin.
