Festival goers take a spin on the midway
Amber Huggins, 21, of Concord, rides the Tea Cups carnival ride with her nephew Tommy Sumerlin, 3, at the 76th Annual Walnut Festival held at Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek. Heavy rains put a damper on the festival and accompanying car show and musical entertainment, but crowds returned with sunny skies. In addition to the carnival, live music and car show, the annual event featured a beer garden, food, vendor booths and fishing in the park's pond. The festival, put on by the Walnut Festival Association, serves to raise money for educational, recreational, artistic, civic and charitable causes, and as a vehicle for the other nonprofit organizations to raise money for their own causes.
