Stanford will play host to a regional women's basketball championship for the first time in 11 years, the NCAA said Tuesday.
Maples Pavilion will serve as a regional site for the 2014 tournament, joining Louisville, Notre Dame and Nebraska. The Stanford regional semifinals and final are set for March 29-April 1. The winner will advance to the Women's Final Four on April 6-8 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
It will be the fourth time Maples has been the site of an NCAA regional championship.
Stanford has played host to the NCAA tournament 17 times since 1989.
The Cardinal, which opens the season Nov. 3 against Vanguard, is led by senior All-American Chiney Ogwumike.
