CONCORD -- Five people were injured when their van veered off a road Monday evening in Concord, fire officials said.

Crews responded about 5:35 p.m. to the Bailey Road crash, where the van reportedly drove off the road for unknown reasons, Battalion Chief Lewis Broschard of the Contra Costa County Fire District said. Five people were injured in the crash, including one person who was trapped in the van and required rescue.

Firefighters were one scene about 6 p.m. with equipment to extricate the person from the vehicle, Broschard said. Three ambulances were en route to the scene to take the victims to the hospital; information on the nature of their injuries was not immediately available.
