BRENTWOOD -- Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews responded to a gas leak Tuesday and a local Wendy's restaurant was evacuated for more than two hours as crews worked to shut off the flow of gas, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
The leak, along the 6000 block of Lone Tree Way in front of a Shell gas station, happened after a construction crew dug and hit a 4-inch line around 12:37 p.m.
Wendy's, located at 6021 Lone Tree Way, was evacuated and the gas station was closed while PG&E crews worked to shut off the gas flow, which happened shortly before 3 p.m., said PG&E spokeswoman Monica Tell.
PG&E crews were still out on site at 4 p.m. working to repair the line. It was not known when the repair would be complete. It was also not known immediately which company was doing construction.
