The spot: The Vine at Bridges, 480 Hartz Ave., Danville; www.thevineat bridges.com.

The vibe: You've booked the sitter and are looking for a corner to tuck into with your sweetheart while swirling a glass of something red and lusciously supple. If you could nibble on a scrumptious, handcrafted appetizer and hear some live music, too, you might never leave. Welcome to The Vine, a stylish neighborhood wine bar and retail shop adjacent to Bridges restaurant. Saunter in, grab a table with the cozy, high-backed chairs, and enjoy a flight of rare gems from California and beyond that deliver tremendous value. The music starts at 8:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and the staff goes out of its way to make sure the wine is flowing until midnight, when they close. For an extra treat, try the seasonal pumpkin sticky toffee cake ($9) with cinnamon tuile and nut streusel. The sitter will wait.

For the couple who: Forgot why they moved to the suburbs.
