DANVILLE -- Demolition of portions of the Danville Hotel will begin the week of Jan. 13.

The sidewalk along the south side of Prospect Avenue will be closed to pedestrians during the project's duration. Minor traffic delays also are expected due to construction vehicles entering and exiting the Hartz Avenue site.

Construction is expected to last about 18 months.

The historic structures of the Danville Hotel at 411 Hartz Ave. and the adjacent McCauley House, will be preserved and renovated. But its attached structures, built in the 1950s and 1960s, will be torn down to make way for a new $25 million, 35,000 square-foot commercial, retail and residential development.
