Chocolate Milk Coffee Cake

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup soft shortening

1 egg

1/2 cup chocolate milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Cinnamon sugar or other topping, if desired (See recipe)

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.

2. Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.

3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into wet mixture, mixing well.

4. Spread batter in pan and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar coffee cake topping or other desired topping. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Cinnamon Sugar Coffee Cake Topping

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup butter, room temperature

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Using a fork, combine all ingredients until crumbly.
