Mariachi Divas at El Campanil Theatre
ANTIOCH -- Get ready for a south-of-the-border evening of cheerful music on Feb. 1 with Southern California s own Mariachi Divas with Cindy Shea.
The Divas are a unique, multicultural, all-female ensemble. Winner of the 2009 Grammy award for best regional Mexican album of the year, you can often find them strolling the streets as official mariachis of Disney s California Adventure.
The performance is set for 8 p.m. Feb. 1 at the El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second St.
El Campanil Theatre s Cabaret Series is presented in association with Esses Productions.
Adults are $27; seniors 62 and older $25; youth ages 6 to 17 are free with a paid adult.

Art4Schools exhibit set at Lynn House Gallery
ANTIOCH -- The Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch will host the 10 annual Art4Schools exhibits Jan. 29 through May 24 at the Lynn House Gallery.
The Art4Schools exhibits showcase Antioch Unified School District classrooms involved in the Arts4Schools Program, sponsored by the Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch, the city of Antioch and a Keller Canyon Grant funded through the office of Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover. The Lynn House Galley will play host to: John Muir Elementary, Feb. 9 through March 1; Carmen Dragon Elementary, March 5 through 15; ENCORE, March 26 through 29; Belshaw Elementary, April 4 through 19; Antioch, Deer Valley & Dozier Libbey High Schools, April 30 through May 10, and Orchard Park K-8, May 13 though 24.
An artists reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 29, where the young artists showcase their works for family, friends and the general public.
The Gallery is at 809 W. First St. in Antioch (across from the Amtrak Train Station) and is open 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, during exhibits. There is no admission fee and the exhibits are free.
Super Band Sunday set for Feb. 2 in Brentwood

The Brentwood Concert Band, under the direction of Carey Hurst and Susan Stuart, will perform favorites from the jester "PDQ (Pretty Damn Quick) Bach along with "The Clown Act, "Disney Razzmatazz, and Glenn Neissner on "The Typewriter.
The Liberty High School Symphonic Band will also perform, under the direction of Carey Hurst.
The concert is free, but donations accepted to meet the needs of area music students through the Stuart Fund Grant. Light refreshments will be served.

'South Pacific is coming to PCT
PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg Community Theatre presents the musical production of Rogers and Hammerstein s "South Pacific for two weekends beginning March 7 and ending March 16. Figure sketch exhibit, event in Brentwood
BRENTWOOD -- CR Framing and Gallery will present "Figure Sketch -- A Process of Art through Jan. 31.
The exhibit showcases work by the figure group that meets at the gallery on Monday evenings. With a different theme each week, the group s models sport a wild variety of creative costumes and props. Each artist interprets the model in his own unique style, making it fun to see the results displayed together.

ANTIOCH -- Following last year s hit presentation of his Broadway tribute, "The Phantom of the Opera star Franc D Ambrosio returns to The El Campanil Cabaret Series celebrating movie music with his critically acclaimed one-man show "Hollywood at 3 p.m. Jan. 26.
This year s show takes us on his journey from the Bronx to Hollywood, celebrating songs from many of his favorite silver Sscreen classics along the way, including "Funny Face, "Breakfast At Tiffany s, "Top Hat, "Moonstruck, "Pennies From Heaven, "The Godfather and "The Phantom of the Opera.

New art group plans inaugural members show
Art Guild of the Delta, a new East County nonprofit organization, is planning its inaugural members-only show for Feb. 8, with an opening reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at CR Framing of Brentwood.
The Guild will offer networking, creative support and encouragement, show opportunities, a critique group, field trips, workshops and lectures, open studio tours and fundraisers for the to provide scholarship money to students enrolled in the art department of Los Medanos Community College, who participate in the Student Art Show in the spring.
Founded by artists sharing a common vision, the group hopes to create an inspiring, educational and supportive place for artists and community supporters.
Art Guild of the Delta holds business meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, alternating between day and evening meetings to enable a wider participation.
