Pin ball raiders hit nine spots: Brentwood taverns and other places in which pin ball machines are operated were not visited when a squad from the sheriff's office staged a five-hour raid in Eastern and Central Contra Costa County communities on Monday, apparently because they were in incorporated territory. In all, the raiding squad, accompanied by a moving van, visited nine places. Two of these were Wild Idol Inn in Byron and Bon Gusto at Borden Junction. One machine was taken from the former and two from the latter place. Raids were also made in Orinda, Lafayette, Alamo and Danville, all incorporated town. Maybe because someone decided it was best to play it safe, places in Brentwood are reported to have received telephone calls in advance of the raid warning them to move their pinball machines out of sight "for the night." If machines are not claimed within 30 days they will be destroyed. Eleven machines which were seized are said to be valued at $10,000.

Little All-American honors for three locals: Three football players with local ties have received recognition on the Little All-American football team selected by The Associated Press.
Anthony Spears, 1983 graduate of Pittsburg High, was named to the third team as defensive lineman. The Portland State defensive end, recorded 212 tackles in 29 games and for two years helped the team reach the Division II Championship games. UC Davis's Eddie Loretto, 1984 Antioch High graduate and the all-time Division II scoring leader, received honorable mention as kicker. Kent Shackleford, a wide receiver for Chico State, received honorable mention as well. Shackleford played two years at Los Medanos College.
Spears is preparing for a large NFL scouting combine Feb. 1 in Indianapolis and expected to go into the first five rounds of the NFL draft.
Loretto capped an outstanding career at Davis by becoming the all-time Division II scorer with 266 points, breaking the mark in his final game.
Shackleford caught 42 passes for 625 yards and eight touchdowns for Chico State last season.
