ANTIOCH -- Two women were arrested after they allegedly stole a car from the owner's driveway and led Antioch police on an early-morning chase Tuesday, striking three other vehicles in the process.

According to Antioch police, the owner of the car briefly left the vehicle running in his driveway around 6:05 a.m. while going inside his home on A Street near Highway 4. When he saw his car had been taken, he notified police, who spotted the vehicle and attempted to initiate a stop.

Instead, the driver sped up, getting onto Highway 4 in an attempt to evade the officer. The suspects struck three other vehicles before the stolen vehicle stalled and they fled on foot.

Two women were apprehended, but the driver remains at large. No injuries were reported.

Police did not immediately identify the women who were arrested.
