The spot: Rachel Dunn Chocolates, 1021 Detroit Ave., Concord.

The vibe: Men and women may be from different planets, but both are at the mercy of chocolate, from its silky texture to the natural chemical compounds that make us feel amorous. And, with Valentine's Day less than a week away, you can almost hear the sweet call from Rachel Dunn Chocolates, a chocolate factory and retail shop located in an industrial warehouse behind Costco. Inside, you and your partner can take a confections class where you dip, decorate, and learn about the history and art of candy making at Dunn's factory, which has been in the business since 1984 and satiated many a famous sweet tooth (including Oprah's). Previous classes have included whoopie pies, sea salt caramels, rocky road, and fresh cream chocolate truffles. Best part? The results of your group workshop come home with you -- about 20 various chocolate delights. $55 per person.

For the couple who: Likes to double dip.
