PLEASANT HILL -- Contra Costa County trustees expect to vote Wednesday on a plan to convert the county schools superintendent from an elected position to an appointed one.

The board expects to vote on a resolution to place a measure on the November ballot asking voters whether they want to continue to elect the superintendent or if trustees should appoint the county superintendent of schools. In addition, trustees expect to vote on hiring an outside attorney to explore whether the board has the legal authority to place such a measure on the ballot.

The meeting is at 5 p.m. at the Contra Costa County Office of Education, 77 Santa Barbara Road in Pleasant Hill. More information is available by calling 925-942-3380 or by visiting www.cocoschools.org. Click on County Board, then Agendas and Minutes.
