Park upgrades

Martinez and Pleasant Hill held ceremonies for parks that recently received upgrades, including Pleasant Oaks Park, top, and Nancy Boyd, left, and Cappy Ricks parks. At Pleasant Oaks, children enjoy the newly constructed playground at the 11.5-acre sports facility. The renovated International Peace Corps Fountain at Nancy Boyd features stones from every country where the Peace Corps has volunteers. The park is named for Boyd, who was killed in a plane crash on March 2, 1963, during her Peace Corps service. At Cappy Ricks, Lincoln Radke, 2, of Martinez, above, uses the new play structure, one of several features upgraded at the facility, including picnic area, paths, basketball court resurfacing and new restrooms.
