Residents are invited to have their heads shaved in a fundraiser to help Concord police patrol officer and crime scene investigator Michele Ligouri, who is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
The event, sponsored by the Concord Police Association, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Lenny's Salon and Barbering at 1536 Kirker Pass Road (in the Safeway shopping center) in Clayton.
For a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Lenny's Salon will provide free hair shaving and will also shave a breast cancer logo into the hair.
"We invite the community to join us in supporting officer Ligouri and breast cancer victims throughout Northern California by stopping by to get shaved, or bringing in a donation," said officer Ron Bruckert of the Concord Police Association and organizer of the fundraiser. "Each person who donates at least $40 to breast cancer research will also receive two free movie tickets from Brenden Theater."
One hundred percent of the funds donated will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org). Donations can be made out to "BCRF" and mailed to: Concord Police Association, 5060 Avila Road, Concord, CA 94520.
