RICHMOND -- Three men were arrested after an attempted shooting that left residents on edge after several shootings in the past five days left two people dead and one seriously injured.
Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said three male suspects, who have not been identified, began firing at two other men around 11:35 a.m. at the Crescent Park Apartments complex located at 4701 Hartnett Avenue.
Hill said one of the men who was shot at had been robbed earlier by one of the suspects, and had confronted him about incident, sparking the gunfire.
Hill added that the gunfire was not believed to be related to any of three shooting incidents since Thursday.
No one was hit by the gunfire. The three suspects did try to hide inside three separate apartment units, Hill said, but they were arrested without incident shortly after police arrived on scene. Police did not say what charges the men might face.
Police served search warrants at the three units the suspects hid in prior to their arrests and found three guns, which they collected as evidence.
The gunfire came after several shooting in the last several days in Richmond.
A man was seriously wounded after being hit several times by gunfire on Monday. A man and woman were killed by gunfire late last week, marking the city's first two homicides of the year and igniting violence that had not been seen in the city for several months.
