PLEASANT HILL -- A packed See's Candies was evacuated Friday afternoon after a car slammed through the front door, police said.
Around 3:15 p.m., police responded to a car collision at Contra Costa Boulevard and Alan Drive. When officers arrived on scene, one of the cars had jumped the curb, careened up the pedestrian walkway and crashed through the front doors of the business, police said.
Based on what witnesses described, the initial collision was the result of one vehicle turning while another vehicle failed to yield, police said.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and two other minor injuries were reported, but no one was seriously hurt, police added.
The business, packed with shoppers just before the Easter holiday, may not be ready to open by Sunday, due to the extensive repair needs. Alcohol, drugs and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to police.
