What to watch this week

  • Granada at Foothill, boys volleyball, Thursday, 6 p.m. -- The Matadors, tied for first place in the East Bay Athletic League with De La Salle, travel to Pleasanton to face the third-place Falcons. Granada beat Foothill in four games in the first EBAL meeting between the teams on March 18.

  • De La Salle at San Ramon Valley, boys lacrosse, Friday, 7 p.m. -- The Spartans and Wolves, locked in a three-way battle for first place in the EBAL, square off in a showdown between two of the North Coast Section's best teams.

  • Encinal at Castro Valley, softball, Wednesday, 4 p.m. -- The Trojans, who entered the week with a 5-0 record in the West Alameda County Conference, will look to stay in first place when they host the 4-3 Jets.

    Moving on Up

    Mark Mathias, Cal Poly baseball -- Mathias, a sophomore infielder from Irvington High, was named the Big West Conference's Field Player of the Week as he had 11 hits in 20 at-bats for the Mustangs, who swept Cal State Fullerton and were 4-0 last week.

    Grace Na, Pepperdine women's golf -- Na, a senior from Alameda High, was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year for a record fourth time as she led the Waves to a 13th consecutive conference title.
