PITTSBURG -- People who have barriers to finding employment can apply for a free job-training and mentoring class Tuesday at the Pittsburg branch of St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County.
Those who are selected for the work force development program will be enrolled in a 24-week-long training session that includes paid part-time work at St. Vincent de Paul, resume preparation, interview practice, financial literacy and other skills. The program offered by the nonprofit is geared to people who have a hard time finding employment because of factors such as substance abuse, homelessness or a criminal record.
The event will serve as an information session for those who are interested in applying for the job-training program. The event takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the community room of St. Vincent de Paul, 1415 Simpson Court, Pittsburg. For more information, call 925-439-5060 or visit www.svdp-cc.org.
