SAN RAMON -- An Everett, Wash., man was arrested for burglary after officers caught him with stolen items from a home he ransacked, police said.

Robert Andrew Hickox, 21, has been charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office with two counts of burglary and possession of stolen property after police stopped him and found belongings that were stolen from a nearby home on April 19.

Around 11 p.m. April 18, San Ramon police responded to a residential burglary at a home on Talavera Drive. According to San Ramon Lt. Tom Reeder, a woman woke up and saw a man -- later identified as Hickox -- in the doorway of her second-story bedroom.

The woman confronted the man, who fled. When officers arrived, they found the man entered the home through a rear sliding glass door that had been broken, Reeder said.

In the early morning hours of April 19, officers responded to another home in the same neighborhood for another residential burglary. Reeder said officers found the suspect had broken a rear window to get into the home.

The residents were not home and it appeared the burglar spent some time in the home before fleeing with stolen property, Reeder said.

While patrolling the surrounding neighborhoods, officers saw and stopped Hickox. During their search, officers were able to confirm that he had items from one of the burglaries.

Hickox is being held at the County Jail in Martinez in lieu of $130,000.
