PITTSBURG -- St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County is the recipient of a $10,000 grant that will help fund various safety net programs offered by the nonprofit.
Such programs serve more than 200,000 people throughout the county by branches of the nonprofit.
The nonprofit's Family Resource Center in Pittsburg provides emergency food supplies, daily hot meals, medical care for the uninsured at the RotaCare Pittsburg Free Medical Clinic at St. Vincent de Paul, a daytime shelter, job training, rental assistance and social services case management.
The grant was obtained from the office of Supervisor Federal Glover and funded by GenOn Energy and Calpine, two energy firms with power plants in the Pittsburg/Bay Point area.
