El Cerrito police log: Tools stolen at residential construction site; two arrested after theft from Fairmont School office; arrest in suspected use of counterfeit bill

FRIDAY, MAY 16 COUNTERFEIT -- A Stockton woman, 24, was arrested after she was found hiding on a BART platform after reportedly trying to pay for groceries and a taxicab ride with a counterfeit $100 bill in the 11400 block of San Pablo Avenue. DUI -- An El Cerrito motorist, 42, was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at around 8:25 p.m. at Donal Avenue and Richmond Street. TRESPASSING -- Just after 6:17 a.m., police arrested an El Cerrito man, 22, for suspected trespassing after he was spotted in the backyard by a homeowner in the 7700 block of Baron Court.
SATURDAY, MAY 17 DUI -- Police arrested an Alameda man, 24, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:40 a.m. in the 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue. POSSESSION -- Police arrested a San Pablo male cyclist at 4:29 p.m. at Cabrillo Street and Schmidt Lane for possession of suspected methamphetamine. SHOPLIFTING -- A Richmond male teen, 17, was arrested after he reportedly concealed clothing and left without paying at a store in the 11000 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police caught up with him and the stolen merchandise at 11:45 a.m. near Kearney Street and Madison Avenue.
SUNDAY, MAY 18 COMMERCIAL CRIME -- Just before 4:44 a.m., someone crossed Cerrito Creek, scaled a fence and entered the rear patio of a business in the 9800 block of San Pablo Avenue. The suspect then broke in through the door and stole merchandise. DUI -- A Richmond man, 53, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at around 12:31 a.m. at Cutting Boulevard and San Pablo Avenue. THEFT FROM RESIDENCE -- Someone entered an open window and stole construction tools and home appliances from a home under renovation in the 1300 block of Contra Costa Drive. THEFT FROM SCHOOL -- Police arrested two El Cerrito men, 36 and 46, and recovered property at 5:19 a.m. in the 700 block of Kearney Street for stealing items from the school office at Fairmont Elementary School. WARRANT -- An El Cerrito man, 27, was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 2:07 a.m. at Moeser Lane and San Pablo Avenue.
