Canyon Chapman, son of Chris and Suzy Chapman, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on May 22.

His Court of Honor will be in August.

Canyon, 17, is a junior at Freedom High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 298.

For his Eagle project, Canyon directed a large group of volunteers in creating a garden area for the students at Laurel Elementary School.

During his Scouting career, Canyon earned 44 merit badges and participated in 135 Nights of Camping, hiking over 300 miles.

Canyon has served on staff at the National Youth Leadership Training and worked as a staff member at Scout Camp Wolfeboro, where he passed on his skills to a new generation of Scouts.

He is also a certified Leave no Trace Trainer.

Canyon is looking forward to working on staff at Scout Camp Wolfeboro this summer.
