My favorite workout: It's a tie between burpees and the sled. I really enjoy workouts that involve the entire body and help to improve strength as well as endurance. This is one of the reasons why I fell in love with Coach Terry Joel's boot camp, since it involves full-body functional strength workouts. Ever since I have changed my workouts from just different cardio exercises to a combination of cardio with strength training, I have seen and felt a huge improvement in my overall health.

How often I exercise: I work out five to six days a week. I participate in boot camp and Sunday hill runs with Joel as well as occasional one-on-one Saturday kettle bell training. Other days I just incorporate light cardio on my own.

What motivates me: Since growing up, I have always loved feeling and seeing improvement in my athletic performance. I love going to boot camp and seeing improvement in others. No matter where one starts, there is always more weight or more reps to add. I love challenging myself and helping others improve as well.

The hardest part: While my competitive spirit pushes me to perform, it also can be an obstacle. Rest days are important, and the hardest part for me is listening to my body and implementing time for recovery.

What it teaches me: It teaches me the value of discipline. Hard work and perseverance do not come naturally to anyone, but pushing myself just a little more every time has taught me that I can overcome any obstacle.
