LIVERMORE -- Candidates interested in running for one of four vacant seats on the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Board of Education can begin filing their papers July 14.

Three board members will be elected for a four-year term on Nov. 4. One additional member will be elected for a two-year term.

The five trustees serve staggered four-year terms. Member responsibilities include hiring the superintendent, approving curriculum and budget, and negotiating contracts wit\h bargaining units.

All candidate filing documents may be obtained at the Alameda County Office of the Registrar of Voters beginning July 14 and must be completed by Aug. 8.
