Friday, June 27 SEXUAL BATTERY -- A woman walking at Potrero Avenue and South 53rd Street at 8:13 a.m. fled after a man groped her.
Saturday, June 28 FUGITIVE -- A passenger in a car pulled over for a 2:38 a.m. traffic stop at Central Avenue and Interstate 80 was arrested after it was found he had a seven-count felony arrest warrant from Coweta County, Ga. The 38-year-old Oakland resident was arrested and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility to begin the extradition process. AUTO BURGLARY -- Officers responded at 5 a.m. to the 5300 block of Cypress Avenue on a report that someone had fled after smashing the window of a vehicle. They located and detained a 25-year-old transient man who was positively identified. Further investigation showed there had been several auto burglaries in the area. The suspect was booked and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility. RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- Someone entered a residence overnight in the 600 block of Kearney Street by prying a window screen, ransacked the home and stole electronics and jewelry valued at $8,900. WARRANT ARREST -- A 49-year-old male from Richmond was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop at 3:47 p.m. at San Pablo Avenue at Moeser Lane. "The male was interviewed by officers as a suspect in a hit-and-run accident" several weeks earlier in El Cerrito, according to police, and was booked and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Sunday, June 29 DUI -- A 40-year-old man was detained during a 2 a.m. traffic stop at San Pablo and Panama avenues after it was determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked and released on a citation to a sober friend. DINE AND DASH -- Police responded at 11:40 p.m. to a report that several people had fled without paying from Denny's at 11344 San Pablo Ave. after eating meals. The manager chased two of the suspects to the Del Norte BART station and placed one under citizen's arrest. The 18-year-old Richmond resident was booked, cited and released.
Monday, June 30 ROBBERY -- Marshall's at 10794 San Pablo Ave. reported at 9:36 a.m. that three men stole seven pairs of shoes and that one hit a security guard before the subjects fled in an older model Toyota. Employees supplied a license plate number of the car and officers are investigating. BURGLARY -- Someone entered a home in the 700 block of Everett Street about 2 p.m. and stole items while the resident was gardening in the side yard. WARRANT ARREST -- An officer heard a woman sobbing and crying for help in Central Park about 11 p.m. The 58-year-old Orinda woman did not know where she was and "was rambling about being chased by werewolves." She also had an outstanding Berkeley arrest warrant. She was issued a new court date and taken to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Tuesday, July 1 POSSESSION -- Shortly before 5 p.m. a resident in the 6400 Block of Conlon Avenue reported a suspicious person walking around the exterior of the residence. Officers found a 54 year-old Richmond man picking lemons from a tree on private property and booked him for stealing fruit and being in possession of methamphetamine. PETTY THEFT -- Officers investigating a theft report at 7 p.m. at Walgreen's, 11565 San Pablo Ave., found a 26-year-old Pittsburg man hiding in the bathroom at Jack in the Box who had a stay away order for committing several thefts from Walgreen's. The man, who was also under the influence of alcohol, was booked and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility. VEHICLE THEFT -- A suspect was arrested at Arlington Boulevard and Scenic Street at 2:30 a.m. when it was found he was in a vehicle reported stolen in East Palo Alto. The 35-year-old East Palo Alto man was also in possession of methamphetamine and driving on a suspended license. A search of the vehicle turned up several pieces of stolen mail from San Mateo County.
Wednesday, July 2 WARRANT ARREST -- A 53-year-old Richmond woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop at 1751 Eastshore Blvd. WARRANT ARREST -- A 23-year-old Richmond woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant during an 11:38 p.m. pedestrian stop 11450 San Pablo Ave.
Thursday, July 3 VEHICLE THEFT -- A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen overnight from the 1900 block of Key Boulevard. FRAUD -- A man attempting to cash a fraudulent check at Bank of the West fled when told police had been summoned, leaving his identification behind. POSSESSION -- A 38-year-old Richmond man was arrested during a 7 p.m. pedestrian stop at Potrero Avenue and South 55th Street for possession of methamphetamine and a bag full of burglary tools. POSSESSION -- A 51-year-old Richmond woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine during a pedestrian stop at 11:40 p.m. at Creekside Park.
Friday, July 4 STOLEN VEHICLE -- A silver Honda Odyssey was reported stolen overnight in the 7200 block of Mound Avenue. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- At 1 p.m., officers investigating a report of stolen merchandise at Marshall's located a 30-year-old Richmond man on San Pablo Avenue at Bayview Avenue who ran and hopped a fence to 10944 San Pablo Ave. when an officer attempted to contact him. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase, identified and arrested. BATTERY/VANDALISM -- Someone struck the window of a moving car in the Safeway parking lot at 12:15 p.m. in an attempt to hit the driver, then fled in a blue 2004 Dodge SUV. PETTY THEFT -- Around 6 p.m. Safeway security reported a shoplifter in custody who attempted to steal over $500 in merchandise. The man, who also had two warrants for previous attempted thefts at the store, was arrested and taken to Martinez. ILLEGAL BURNING -- Police noticed smoke in the Hillside Nature Area around 8 p.m. and found eight juveniles around a campfire, setting up to watch the fireworks. "They claimed to have found the fire when they found the campfire after another group abandoned it," police said.
Saturday, July 5 PETTY THEFT -- At 1 a.m. a man reported that he had met a woman at Casino San Pablo, invited her to his residence in the 6400 block of Farimount Avenue for drinks, fell asleep, and awoke to find his wallet missing. PETTY THEFT, POSSESSION -- A 28-year-old Richmond man was arrested after he was found attempting to take apart two bicycles, one with a cut lock still attached, at 7 a.m. at South 56th Street and Cypress Avenue. A search turned up a meth pipe and burglary tools, including a bolt cutter. An area resident identified one of the bicycles as belonging to his neighbor on Cypress and the owner subsequently identified it. WARRANT -- A 27-year-old Pittsburg man was arrested on a $50,000 vandalism warrant during a 5 p.m. pedestrian stop at Central Avenue and Norvell Street. MISSING JUVENILE -- An autistic child was reported missing in the 7000 block of Cutting Boulevard at 6 p.m. found hiding in a nearby bush and returned to the relative. WARRANT -- A 39-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both from Richmond, were arrested for at South 56th Street / Potrero Avenue at 7:30 p.m. for outstanding warrants. MISSING PERSON -- Officers located an autistic man reported missing at the Walgreens in San Pablo. TRAFFIC PURSUIT -- At 11:30 p.m. an officer pursued a vehicle with two flat tires that fled an attempted traffic stop at Gatto Avenue and Hagen Boulevard. When the vehicle finally stopped, it was determined it had also been in a collision on Interstate 80 and that the elderly driver was "suffering from an emergency medical condition." He was taken to the hospital.
