OAKLAND -- Two men were shot Sunday night in different parts of East Oakland while sitting in cars, police said Monday.
Both men are expected to recover from their wounds and the shootings were not related, police said. Their names were not released.
One of the victims, a 24-year-old man, was shot about 8:25 p.m. Sunday while sitting in a parked car in the 2700 block of Short Street in the Allendale district by a gunman who walked up to the vehicle. The man was wounded in the buttocks and was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condign. The gunman fled.
Police don't have a motive yet for the shooting.
About 6 p.m. Sunday a man was sitting in a parked car with a woman in the 10400 block of E Street in the Stonehurst district when a car pulled up alongside them and someone in the vehicle began shooting at them.
The woman was not hit but the man was, police said.
The gunmen drove away and the man who was shot was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition. Police did not say where the man was wounded and don't have a motive yet for the shooting.
