BRENTWOOD -- The city of Brentwood recently announced that it will participate in City Blood Challenge 2014, which is through the
American Red Cross.
The competitive summer blood drive will have Brentwood challenging other Northern California cities. Brentwood's blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Brentwood Community Center, 35 Oak St., and it is open to the general public.
A typical appointment that day will take about an hour. Special appointments are available for double red cell donations, where a machine allows donors to safely give two units of red blood cells during one donation while plasma and platelets are returned to them. This appointment lasts longer and has different donor criteria.
To make an appointment, check out www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
