Violet is the Community Concern for Cats Pet of the Week for Aug. 8.

Fitzgerald is a 2-year-old Maine Coon mix who was rescued from a tough situation of living on the streets. He has proved himself to be very smart, and has made good progress in learning to trust people again. He gets along with dogs. Fitzgerald is neutered, microchipped, tested negative and up-to-date on shots. Maine Coon Adoptions holds monthly adoption fairs in Pleasant Hill. Visit, for dates and locations, and to complete an adoption application. On Facebook at Call 510-710-9250.

Violet is a sweet 1-year-old calico. She has soft long hair and blue eyes, which is very unique for a calico. Violet is a calm, gentle and reserved cat who would prefer a quiet adult household. She is good with cats and dogs in her foster home -- but young children would overwhelm her. Contact Jane with Community Concern for Cats at 925-759-9079, or visit the CC4C hotline at 925-938-CATS (925-938-2287). Violet can also be seen from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Pet Food Express, 2158 Contra Costa Blvd., in Pleasant Hill.
