Meet records: Six meet records were broken at the 52nd annual Diablo Community Swim League championships, held Aug. 2 at College Park High.
Will Knox of Pleasant Hill Aquatics had one of the most impressive swims of the day, breaking a 32-year-old record in 100-yard butterfly in the boy 15-18 age group. His record time was 52.08 seconds.
Also breaking individual records were Ali Silva and Andrew Rodriguez, both of the Scottsdale Swim Team. Silva broke the girls 13-14 age group record in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.56.
Rodriguez's record came in the boys 13-14 age group 50 butterfly (24.47).
Three relay teams also set new marks, and Rodriguez and his Scottdale teammates were responsible for two of them.
The first was the 200 medley relay in the boys 13-14 age group (1:49.76) and the other came in the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.54). Rodriguez was joined by Tyler Rosselli, Johnny Bruzzone and Raymen Lopez in the medley relay and Richard Cunningham, Rosselli and Lopez in the freestyle relay.
Also, Rancho San Miguel's girls 15-18 age group 200 freestyle relay team of Bridget Struck, Kristen McFarland, Alison Sena and Taylor Cossu earned a record with a winning time of 1:42.39 in the finals and 1:42.05 as a seed time.
