Troy Brown of Concord, was recently sworn in as a California Highway Patrol officer, having successfully completed the 27-week cadet training course at the CHP Academy. He is assigned to duty in the Castro Valley Area office.

Brown's training included vehicle patrol, accident investigation, first aid, and the capture and arrest of suspected violators. There was additional training in the areas of traffic control, report writing, emergency scene management, stolen vehicle recovery, and knowledge of the penal code, health and safety code and vehicle code.

Brown is a 2004 graduate of Clayton Valley High School in Concord, and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sonoma State.
