ANTIOCH -- A 16-year-old boy who carjacked a man outside his home and then fired a gun that turned out to be loaded with blanks has been arrested, Antioch police said.

The incident occurred at 4 p.m. Thursday after the teen approached a 51-year-old man in the 2800 block of Stamm Drive, pointed a gun at him and ordered him out of his car. As he was trying to start the stolen car, the victim's family came outside to see what the commotion was about, prompting the teen to shoot at them. Police later learned the bullets were blanks.

The suspect, who is not being named because he is a minor, then fled, but was chased by a resident, who called police and provided them with the location of the getaway car. Officers used the information to locate and arrest the teen. He was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and carjacking and taken to Juvenile Hall.
