In Concord, seven candidates are challenging three incumbents for a seat on the City Council in the November election.
Mayor Tim Grayson and Councilman Ron Leone are seeking second terms, while Councilwoman Laura Hoffmeister is up for a fifth term.
The challengers are Adam Foster, Patrick Hogoboom, Terry Kremin, Harmesh Kumar, Vernon Kurpieski, Nicholas Lynch and Brent Trublood.
Concord City Treasurer Thomas Wentling faces Louis Mazzarella. Two years ago, the pair were on opposite sides on the failed measure to make the city treasurer an appointed position. Wentling supported the change while Mazzarella ran the campaign against it.
The race for two Pleasant Hill City Council seats drew far fewer candidates than in 2012, when eight people ran for office. Incumbents Michael Harris and Jack Weir will face challengers Dorothy Englund and Sue Noack. Voters also will decide whether to change the City Clerk position from elected to appointed.
