RICHMOND -- A 32-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after he shot at a woman inside a home in the 3700 block of Esmond Avenue, according to Richmond police.

The woman had gone inside the residence to retrieve her items when the suspect, who has not yet been identified, pointed a gun at her and fired, said Lt. Shawn Pickett. The woman was able to escape and contacted police.

Officers then escorted her to the home so she could get the rest of her possessions. Police said the man and woman know each other, but could not elaborate on the nature of the relationship.

While officers were interviewing eyewitnesses at the home, the suspect returned and was arrested. A handgun was also recovered.
