CONCORD -- A major Concord thoroughfare was closed for most of the day Monday after a truck crashed into a power, wiping out power to about 1,750 customers, Concord police said.

The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. when the driver of an Astound cable truck crashed into a tree, then a wooden power pole on Concord Boulevard near Hames Drive, according to Concord police Lt. Ivan Menchaca.

The force of the crash caused the truck to turn over on its side and knocked down several power wires. The driver was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved.

The crash has shut down Concord Boulevard from Ayers Road to Trailcreek Court and detours were set up in the area.

PG&E crews worked the entire day to install a power pole, with the road expected to be reopened by 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.
