OAKLEY -- A large marijuana grow operation was discovered at an Oakley home Sunday after firefighters responded to a fire that broke out in the garage.

Approximately 1,000 plants --valued at an estimated $500,000 -- were found at the home on Bramante Court, according to Oakley police. Police say the fire may have been started when residents tampered with a utility box inside the garage.

The investigation is ongoing. Police did not name any suspects or announce any arrests.
