MARIN COUNTY -- Detectives have identified two men found shot to death in the backyards of neighboring homes on Carlotta Circle in Strawberry as a murder-suicide investigation continues.

Theodore Charles Rodden, 61, was slain in the backyard of 154 Carlotta Circle.

Andreas Kreiden, a 41-year-old Calistoga man, was found dead in the backyard of his parents' home next door, 152 Carlotta, a rifle at his side.

Detectives believe the killings on Carlotta Circle appear to be just what they seem: murder-suicide.

The identities of the two were released Friday by Lt. Keith Boyd, the county's assistant chief deputy coroner.

Boyd said he was unable to disclose other details of the investigation, referring inquiries to Lt. Doug Pittman, the sheriff's office spokesman.

Pittman early Friday noted detectives are continuing their investigation into the deaths that occurred in adjacent backyards.

"All information and evidence collected so far indicates these deaths may be attributed to a murder-suicide but the investigation is far from over," he said. "As such, the sheriff's office wants to reassure the residents and Strawberry community of Mill Valley that there is no indication of any other persons involved other than those already identified in our investigation and that there is no suspect or persons of interest at large."

County detectives, who were investigating the shooting death of a man found in the backyard of 154 Carlotta Circle about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, discovered the body of another man next door at 152 Carlotta on Thursday morning.

Initial reports indicated the two men were neighbors. It now appears that Kreiden was visiting or otherwise staying at the home of his parents, who have owned the residence since 1968. Lt. Boyd said Kreiden was a Calistoga resident.

Officials had no information on the relationship of the two men, or whether there had been issues involving the pair.

"I'm unaware of any ongoing dispute between them," Pittman said Thursday. "We're trying to figure out what we have here."
