  • SHOPLIFTING -- An officer was flagged down by an employee of Hi Tech Car Stereo, 10530 San Pablo Ave., around 3 p.m. about the theft of a car sound system amplifier. The suspect was last seen running west on Plumas Street. Elsewhere, another officer noticed and contacted a suspicious subject enter Doherty's Auto Rental across from the police department. The 28-year-old Pinole man was positively identified by the victim and the stolen property was recovered from a nearby garbage can.

  • BATTERY -- A 38-year-old El Cerrito man was arrested at 10 p.m. in the 1300 block of Norvell Street after he pushed his roommate to the ground and punched him in the face during an argument.

  • ARMED ROBBERY -- A customer at a drive-up ATM in the 9800 block of San Pablo Avenue was robbed at gunpoint of cash and jewelry at 11:30 p.m.

  • RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- A residence in the 1600 block of Everett Street was entered through an unlocked sliding glass door during the day and a laptop was stolen.

  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION -- Officers responding to a reported argument and property damage incident at an apartment in the 6400 block of Schmidt Lane at 1:40 a.m. found a 24-year-old El Cerrito man outside with no shoes or shirt. The man, who police said "was heavily intoxicated and unable to convey what happened to officers," was arrested.

  • STOLEN VEHICLE, TRAILER -- A pickup truck with attached trailer reported stolen overnight in the 7800 block of Burns Court was later located by police in the 900 block of Seaview Drive.

  • WEAPON -- A disturbance involving the brandishing of a knife was reported at 3 p.m. on Dylans Way. Officers spoke with the reporting victim and witnesses, then were able to talk the suspect, a 57-year-old man, "out of the home and into custody without further incident."

  • DUI -- A disabled vehicle with collision damage was reported stopped in the roadway at Kearney Street and Waldo Avenue at 5:30 p.m. The driver, a Richmond woman, 57, was arrested her for DUI. She told officers she had been in a collision and drove away, but could not recall where it happened. A check with area agencies turned up no reported collisions.

  • ROBBERY -- A 21-year-old Albany man was arrested at the Ross Store at El Cerrito Plaza at 6 p.m. for allegedly stealing merchandise and knocking down a loss prevention officer who tried to detain him.

  • RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- A rock was used to break a front window and gain entrance to a home in the 6700 block of Glen Mawr Avenue. Cash and camera equipment were reported stolen.

  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION -- A 48-year-old San Pablo woman at 11344 San Pablo Ave. was arrested at 12:30 a.m. after police determined she was "extremely intoxicated" and unable to stand without assistance.

    Sunday, Aug. 17

  • POSSESSION -- A 56-year-old Albany man was arrested at 2 p.m. at Hill Street by the Del Norte BART station for possession of suspected heroin.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A silver, four-door 2000 Honda Civic was reported stolen from the 5300 block of Rosalind Avenue between 4:55 and 6:15 p.m.

  • PARAPHERNALIA -- A 51-year-old El Cerrito man was arrested for possession of a glass smoking pipe at 7 p.m. at San Pablo Avenue and Carlson Boulevard.

    Monday, Aug. 18

  • RESISTING ARREST -- An officer who saw a 20-year-old homeless man waving a long metal object in the air at 9:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Arlington Boulevard, arrested the subject after he refused commands to drop the object.

  • ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -- Several screens were cut off windows in an unsuccessful attempt to enter a residence in the 6800 block of Glen Mawr Avenue sometime between Aug. 15 and 18. A brick was also used unsuccessfully to try and break the rear sliding glass door.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A green, four-door 1996 Nissan Maxima was reported stolen from the 7000 block of Fairmount Avenue.

  • PETTY THEFT -- A 23-year-old Richmond man was arrested at 3:45 p.m. at a store at 11450 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of leaving with concealed merchandise.

  • PETTY THEFT -- Two men stole electronics from a cellular phone store at El Cerrito Plaza at 5:22 p.m., fleeing in a silver Nissan Murano.

  • MISSING PERSON -- An officer who stopped a 31-year-old homeless woman on the BART path at Conlon Avenue at 6 p.m. learned she had been reported missing to the Alameda County Sheriff's office on Aug. 16.

    tUESDAY, Aug. 19

  • POSSESSION -- A 37-year-old homeless man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine at 11:15 a.m. at 6009 Potrero Ave.

  • WARRANT -- A 48-year-old homeless man contacted by officers responding to a 2 p.m. disturbance call at 3424 Belmont Ave. was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

  • RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- Someone used a brick to smash a kitchen window of a home in the 2500 block of Carquinez Avenue and steal about $2,000 in jewelry and cash.

    Wednesday Aug. 20

  • STOLEN VEHICLE -- At 2:15 p.m. an SUV was reported stolen from the 1900 block of Kearney Street.

  • WARRANT -- A Richmond man, 39, was arrested for outstanding San Francisco warrants during a 7:50 p.m. traffic stop at Potrero Avenue and South 52nd Street.

  • DUI -- A Richmond man, 29, was arrested att 11 p.m. at San Pablo and Potrero avenues for driving under the influence.

    FRIDAY, AUG. 21

  • RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- At 10 a.m. officers responded to a report of a theft that had just occurred in the 5800 Block of El Dorado Street. The victim reported that a known suspect had entered her trailer home and stolen items. Officers located and took the suspect, a 40-year-old homeless woman, into custody. The property was returned to the victim.

  • WARRANT -- An officer answering a suspicious person report in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue arrested a 51-year-old woman after a check revealed an outstanding warrant.

  • RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- A laptop computer was stolen during the evening from a residence in the 900 block of Richmond Street after entry was gained through an unlocked rear window.

  • WARRANT-- A ride was arranged for a driver found to have a suspended driver license during a midnight traffic stop at Shasta Street and Burlingame Avenue. When the ride arrived, the officer recognized the person in the passenger seat as someone with an outstanding warrant. The 38-year-old man was arrested.

  • BATTERY -- Officers responding to a 2 a.m. call from the 2600 block of Yuba Street found several people outside a residence. "Officers determined that a 55-year-old El Cerrito man arranged for a prostitute to come to his residence. When she arrived, the man changed his mind. An argument ensued and the man pushed the woman to the ground. The woman informed officers that she did not want to press charges." The case is being forwarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
