RICHMOND -- Police arrested a man for allegedly giving some BART riders a scare Friday morning after a gun fell from his waistband outside the Richmond station, an investigator said.
About 10 a.m., BART police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun on the Amtrak platform at the station, Lt. Tyrone Forte said.
A witness told police a man was standing on the platform and that a gun fell out of his waistband.
As police arrived, the man threw the gun across the platform.
"He heard sirens and chucked the gun to a parallel platform," Forte said, adding that thankfully the gun did not discharge.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and then transported to County Jail in Martinez without incident.
