CASTRO VALLEY — After two weeks of Western-style hoopla, the Rowell Ranch Rodeo is coming to town this weekend, and so are members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Events in this professional circuit rodeo will include bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding; team, tie-down and steer roping; and steer wrestling.
Here's a round-up of rodeo events, all at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Park and Arena, 9711 Dublin Canyon Road.
Today: 5 p.m., local team roping and wild cow milking. Free admission.
Saturday and Sunday: Arena gates open at 10 a.m. Cowboy Experience at noon. Grand entry at 1:30 p.m., followed by rodeo events. Admission charged.
Saturday's special activity: Tri-tip barbecue and dance at 5 p.m. Advance ticket purchase required.
Sunday's special activity: Attendees are urged to wear pink to help raise awareness of — and money for — the fight against breast cancer.
Advance tickets for both rodeo days, and Saturday's barbecue and dance, can be purchased at Rowell's Saddlery, 3473 Castro Valley Blvd.
Tickets purchased in advance will cost $12 for general admission, $10 for children ages 3 to 12; and $10 for seniors.
Tickets at the gate will be $14 general admission and $12 each for children and seniors.
Family packages and special reserved seating also are available. Parking, at $7 per car, includes a rodeo program.
