CASTRO VALLEY — You can find produce, pastries and politicians at the Castro Valley Farmers Market, which opens Saturday for its spring-through-fall season. The market will be at the Castro Valley BART station, Redwood Road and Norbridge Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 25.
More than two dozen vendors will sell fruit, flowers, vegetables, other food products and handicrafts. Special events and entertainment will be scheduled as the season progresses.
The market is one of 10 in the Bay Area sponsored by the Urban Village Farmers Market, based in Fremont.
The market is also sponsored by the county's Redevelopment Agency, BART and Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, whose district includes Castro Valley and whose aide, Bob Swanson, is an Urban Village director.
