DUBLIN -- Mayors from seven Alameda County cities will mix it up in a live cooking contest from 5 to 7 p.m. July 25 at the Dublin Farmers Market at Emerald Glen Park, 4201 Central Parkway.
Squaring off in a contest similar to the "Iron Chef" TV show, each mayor will pair up with a local restaurant chef from his city to prepare a fresh meal out of ingredients provided to them by the farmers market and local grocers.
The public is invited to watch the contest. Setup starts at 5 p.m. and judging at 7 p.m.
Contestants include the following mayors: Peggy Thomson of Albany, Tim Sbranti of Dublin: Bill Harrison of Fremont, John Marchand of Livermore, Jerry Thorne of Pleasanton, Stephen Cassidy of San Leandro, and Hayward Mayor Pro Tem Mark Salinas.
Later this year, Alameda County's winners will compete against those from Contra Costa.
