UC Berkeley police reported the theft of 10 Apple computers from its graduate school of journalism Sunday evening.

A journalism student reported just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday that a classroom door had been smashed and the computers taken, according to UC police Capt. Margo Bennett. It was not known how the suspect or suspects entered the building, which was closed at the time, but there were no signs of damage or tampering on external doors, Bennett said.

The 27-inch iMac computers are valued at about $2,300 each, Bennett said. She added that police are working with the building's manager to see if any security enhancements are needed.

Police ask anyone with information about the theft to call 510-642-0472.
