SAN LEANDRO -- School officials want to know what the community wants in a new superintendent.
A public forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in the multipurpose room at Madison Elementary to hear community input before the district advertises the soon-to-be vacant superintendent job. Superintendent Cindy Cathey, 62, will retire at the end of the school year June 30 after three years as schools chief and 17 total years in the district.
Consultants with executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates will be attending. The firm was awarded a $23,500 contract March 12.
An online survey can be found in English, Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese on the district's website at www.slusd.us/superintendent.
Superintendent selection criteria is scheduled to be finalized at the April 16 board meeting, applications are due April 24 and interviews will begin in late April. The district aims to hire a superintendent by July 1, according to the timeline on the district website.
