OAKLAND -- Cinnamongirl, a nonprofit mentoring program designed specifically for African-American and Latino girls, is looking for new mentors.
The young women mentors would make at least a two-year commitment to take part in the program that aims to reach girls often without the resources or support to make their dreams a reality. Girls involved in the organization are between the ages of 12-17, and are residents of Alameda, San Francisco and Contra Costa counties.
Cinnamongirl will host a recruitment event for provide more information about its program and how to become a volunteer.
The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the MetroCenter Auditorium, 101 Eighth St., across from the Lake Merrit BART station, in Oakland.
