The Bay Area News Group's ongoing reporting on child abuse in our schools began in 2012. We found that although state law requires that all school personnel immediately report suspected offenses directly to law enforcement that consistently has not happened. We also found a failure to train workers about their reporting responsibilities. Our editorial pages have called for legislative changes to fix that.
