LOS ANGELES -- The Giants have a lot of decisions to make, but this one was obvious: Manager Bruce Bochy announced Monday that Matt Cain will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday. Cain will have his regular four days of rest.

"He's so consistent and I think it's fair to say he's the number one guy right now with the way he's been throwing all year," Bochy said. "He's had a great year and started the All-Star game. He's been consistent, really, all season."

Bochy knows who the Game 2 starter is, and could announce that choice Tuesday or Wednesday. As with Cain, it would be a shock if the choice is anybody but Madison Bumgarner.

Bochy said it's possible he could hold off quite a while on announcing a Game 3 starter. He said he might even wait to see how the Giants do in the first two games. Because the Giants have a day off after the first two games, the other postseason starters could be available out of the bullpen.
