A Twitter hashtag named RallyZito that was started by a Giants' fan was trending worldwide on Friday night.
Named after Giants left-hander Barry Zito and started by a fan, it had close to 25,000 tweets by the time Zito departed Game 5 with a 5-0 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series and had trended as high as No. 2 worldwide.
Zito came through for his supporters, allowing six hits and one walk to help send the series back to San Francisco for Game 6 on Sunday.
The hashtag began on Thursday about midway through the Cardinals' 8-3 victory over the Giants in Game 4. It appeared to really take off about mid-morning Friday and continued to gather steam throughout the day.
