49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said his players have been inspired by the championship run of the Giants.

"All of our guys were watching Game 4," Harbaugh said Tuesday. "The team has really gained a lot of inspiration from what the Giants have done. The team that won't be divided, stays together, fights for each other -- that one team is the champions."

The admiration has gone both ways. Giants manager Bruce Bochy wore a 49ers cap to a press briefing last month when 49ers quarterback Alex Smith was threatened with fines for continuing to wear his Giants hat. Smith threw out the first pitch of an NLDS game at AT&T Park and Giants legend Willie Mays later visited a 49ers practice.

Harbaugh said he has not met Bochy, but he would like to.

"The thing that really stuck out to me was just what a strong team they were," Harbaugh said. "What a great morale they had. A lot of talented players, great coaching, great managing. It was phenomenal.

"Just as a fan watching it, I'm very inspired by it."
