The Giants reportedly reached an agreement with free-agent relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt on a three-year, $18 million contract Monday night.

The deal was first reported by CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

The 33-year-old Affeldt was a key ingredient to the Giants' postseason sucess this year, pitching 10.1 scoreless innings and allowing just five hits. Affeldt was 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 67 appearances this past regular season.

Affeldt has been a key performer out of the Giants' bullpen the past four seasons, compiling a 2.73 ERA over 237.1 innings for San Francisco after signing as a free agent in 2008.

Affeldt is the first of the Giants' key free agents to work out a deal to return to San Francisco. The world champions said they'll retain arbitration-eligible outfielder Hunter Pence and they hope to re-sign postseason hero Marco Scutaro.
